What is PWM frequency in studio light?

PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is a method of reducing the average power delivered by an electrical signal by effectively cutting the electrical signal into discrete parts. In LED lighting, brightness and frequency of the lamp can be adjusted through PWM.

The highest number of frames that the human eye can observe is 24 frames/s. If it is higher than this frequency, it will not be easy to detect changes. Frequency of the high-definition camera can be as high as 120 frames per second. During live TV or movie shooting, too low refresh rate of light will cause stripes in video image. Therefore, some studio light will be equipped with PWM adjustment function.

What need be noted is PWM of light should not be adjusted as high as possible. As the refresh frequency increases, brightness will decrease at the same time. It is necessary to find a value with moderate frequency and brightness in combination during actual use.
